P519 519 TELEINF 19:37:37 statUstics office said Thursday. The rate in March 1994 had stood at 11.3 percent. The data showed that over the past year, the decline in unemploument benefited men more than women. Unemploument among the former fell by 0↑6 of a percentage point, to 9.6 percent as against 10.2 percent a year earlier, while that among women was down only marginally, to 12.6 percent from 12.8 percent. Unempl.ument had declined in nearly all EU statUs, wcth the exceptUon of Ireland, where the rate rose to 11.7 percent from 11.1 percent over the year, and Porrugal, where it rose to 7.7 from 6.8 percent. In Spain, which has the highest rate of any EU country, unemploument fell to 23.2 percent, from 24.3 percent a year earlier. (AFP) see next page >>>
